Lantana camara invasions in india threaten tiger habitat. Unintended consequences of migration, the lantana camara was introduced to india in by british, and affects the mating of tigers in woodlands. There is a chemical released by the lantana which inhibits the mating behaviour of the tigers due to smell. Non-native plants may not initially be problems but is hard to predict behaviour. Cane tone native to neotropics and introduced to puerto rico & hawaii where it successfully controlled cane beetles devastating sugar cane crops. Later introduced to australia to reduce beetles but not successful and multiplied to reduce biodiversity of reptiles. Introduction of nile perch to african lakes has resulted in extinction of endemic cichlid fish species. Due to the introduction of the huge nile perch, the cichlid species are getting extinct, and the african people don"t eat the nile perch. Was brought to be used for food, but escaped from the small area where it was introduced.
