The process by which people learn culture. Define roles (behaviour expected of a person occupying a particular position in society. A sense of individual identity, in relation to others. Epigenetic tags: chemical mechanism attached to genes that as a result of outside influences, activate or suppress specific genes. People learn gender roles (set of behaviours associated with widely shared expectations about how genders should act) or gender sense of self. Different forms of thinking arise from different forms of civilizations. Secondary socialization: occurs outside of the family, in school and with friends. Rejection, rebellion, discord, lifestyle parental values, experiment with new elements, rebellion.
