Psychodynamic views of personality: freud invoked a role of unconscious processes in the control of behavior. His idea of structure of personality, he lacked empirical scientific method most of his theories don"t make sense. He understood conscience and how it drives human behavior, and our motivation and the information that we take in. Unconscienced- deepest darkest wishes, too animalistic, fears, experience that caused pain, things that drive our behavior. Hes used case study method, he observed upper class people"s behavior. Conflict occurs when all these deepest darkest feeling come into the conscience brain this is how we get anxiety, how we feel shame this is the cause of it. He bealoved that we are moved by sexual and aggressive, any pleasure not just sexual needs. We try to avoid pain and the directive of human beings that is moved by the unconscience. Based on his observations of clients: topographical model: argued for 3 levels of consciousness.
