When we talk about the revolution we can"t talk about it without reference to wwi. First wwi, was the first mechanized war in history. Was the worst thing to ever happen to the western world. Battle of the somme- 1. 2 million people died, 60,000 of those people were british. Russians at the beginning of wwi- about 15 million. Russians, mostly peasants were drafted into the war. Russian government started to allow national organizations to exist. New political participants, in the context of crisis nicholas allows this. These political organizations started to become like liberals- development of left power. These people become very critical about how this war is being fought. The liberals force the tsar to call a duma- a russian parliament. As the result of all the deaths, we see political parties criticizing the tsar. They begin to say crazy things like the people who are fighting have no interest in fighting the war (peasants)
