June 26, 1993, 22 year old mr. johnson was babysitting his 4 year old niece, valin. Next morning, valin"s mother discovered her vsa (vital signs absent) and with rigor mortis. An autopsy was conducted and a team of doctors lead by dr. charles. Smith concluded the girl had been strangled and death occurred between 8pm and 10pm. Mr. johnson was arrested on june 27th 1993 for first degree murder and aggravated sexual assault on his niece. Only his mother believed him, other close family members trusted the medical experts. Mr. johnson started to suspect that it was his own bother who killed his own daughter because he also trusted the medical experts. No evidence actually connecting him to the murder. Appeal: dec 19, 1996- ontario court of appeal- dismissed, one dissenting judge disagreed and stated he would have ordered a new trial pointing out the lack of forensic evidence connecting mr.
