Sep 6th "16 a short introduction to narrative. When we are thinking about narrative we are thinking about stories. Write 2-3 things that are important/required for something to be a story: an introduction, a setting/scenery, a character(s, a purpose, a plot, a theme, a conflict. Narrative is one of the basic ways in which human beings think. It"s used in art, law, politics, therapy and counseling, negotiation, business, medicine, and more. It"s how we organize our individual experiences in time. What is text: anything that can be read or interpreted, novels, poems, reports, films, songs, paintings, websites; are all texts, all stories are texts. Sequence: a story takes place in time. Characters: a story is about specific people (not always people) Particularly: a story is specific in setting and events. Tellability: a story is usually about something unusual or unexpected, therefore worth telling about. Main reasons for a story is conveying experience. Qualia: what it might be like to experience.
