Document Summary

Protoplasm surrounded by the cell wall, a protoplasm is everything inside a cell (nucleus and cytoplasm) Cytoplasm includes: organelles, cytosol, membrane systems and non membrane structure. the cytoplasm is surrounded by the plasma membrane. Parts of the plant cell: cell wall: surrounded by cells walls can be rigid or flexible, unique to plant cells. Constraining protoplasm growth, maintaining cell integrity during water level fluctuations. Active protection: detecting and communication signals from pathogens to teh plasma membrane. Passive protection: being a barrier to invasion cell - cell communication and cell-environment communication. It is made up of cellulose and cellulose is made from the arrangement of microfibrils. Also matrix of polysaccharides ( hemicellulose and pectin) and glycoproteins. Microfibrils and hemicelluloses are cross linked to one another. Main components of cell wall is : cellulose : They are bundled in microfibrils that wind around one another to form microfibrils. Microfibrils contain some lattice like micelles: polysaccharides.
