Document Summary

Remember bohr effect: how does the effect of po2 on hb saturation relate to oxygen uptake and release in the body? the more saturated hemoglobin is. [uptake: partial pressure has something to do with the affinity of oxygen which means that, dissociation is lower if affinity is higher. The top right represents hb saturation in lungs. The rest represents the release of oxygen in the body. Even if there is two different ph it does not make difference to the lungs: how does ph increase and decrease, higher partial pressure of co2 from higher activity which becomes carbonic acid. Which then dissociates to a proton and carbon which means that the ph lowers: you always want hemoglobin to be highly saturated with oxygen in the lungs, see figure 2 box 11. 3. Fish at depth buoyancy: when a fish wants to swim nearer to surface, it inflates the bladder with air that is absorbed through the gills.
