Jail cam: pre-existing surveillance cameras in the pre-detention facility: live-feed inside the facility that people could log on and watch (broadcasted for awhile) ***these 3 things have affected the cultural status of prison punishment*** Crime and punishment as commodities can be bought and owned. Jail cam as reality entertainment: no deliberate editorialization potential for surprise (its not like normal tv) very boring, large amount of people who may not even be guilty yet, stigmatization. Blurring the boundaries: as we are engaging about where were headed with crime and punishment is that boundaries might be blurred. Indicator that crime/punishment/prison has expanded and redefined in contemporary society.
