When sar1 is activated, gtp is replaced by gdp, creates sar1-gdp complex. When gdp is lost and gtp is picked up, there"s a conformational change that associates with the membrane, essentially binds. This begins to initiate curvature of the membrane. When sar1 gtp is active, it begins to recruits coat proteins (sec23 and sec24) Role in assembly of coated vesicles,; hydrolysis reverses process. In addition to facilitating transport of these receptors, they bind cargo receptors. Cargo receptor binds sec24, cargo refers to the soluble proteins that are translocated into the er (?) Properly folded proteins are selectively concentrated inside vesicles. Snares are surface markers on vesicles that identify cargo type and bind to complementary receptors. Incoming vesicle will fuse with a membrane of the golgi apparatus by way of the snare proteins; trans-snare complex. This is how we get vesicles coming from the er and how they find their way to the golgi.
