Document Summary

What do ecologists need to measure to learn about the response variable. And so on this list is far from exhaustive. Transpiration by plants leads to cooler conditions and more precipitation. Amount of biomass determines rate of soil erosion and more. Production of new organic matter, or biomass by autotrophs in an ecosystem. Newly settled eruption sites are bare and need to have a secondary succession, gradient of biomass. These trees fix carbon into the soil and are very effective as carbon sinks. Greater productivity leads to greater herbivore densities, but herbivores can also alter productivity. Example, gora gora crater of high food resources (a bunch of grass), herbivores (ungulate hoof footed animals) can maintain populations without even leaving crater. High concentration or herbivore = high population of lions. Grass biomass from carbon fixing --> herbivore biomass --> predator biomass --> back to grass.
