Document Summary

Nucleic acids: know the diference between nitrogenous base, nucleoide, etc. Electronegaivity: the ability to atract electrons from atoms with which they are interacing. Creates an uneven distribuion of charge in these atoms, creaing areas that are more posiive and more negaive around each respecive atom. *it is important to be able to look at a molecule and be able to tell whether it is polar. She will not ask us to memorize/ recognize/ draw these structures but she will ask us to look at the structure and determine what kind of properies it has. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein. All 20 have the same backbone (central carbon, amino group, carboxyl group and a hydrogen). The diferent secions (green, blue, purple) will inluence how things interact with each other. It will afect the secondary, teriary, quaternary structures. The polarity of the amino acids will determine the ability of the protein to exit the cell.
