The term training is oten casually to describe almost any efort iniiated by an organizaion to foster learning among its members. The term development tends to be oriented more toward broadening an individual"s skills for future responsibility. Research shows that an organizaion"s revenue and overall proitability are posiively correlated to the amount of training it gives its employees. The goal or training is to contribute to the organizaion"s overall goals. To ensure that a irm"s training and development investment has the maximum impact possible, a strategic approach should be used that involve four phases: need assessment, program design, implementaion, evaluaion. Chief learning oicers: a high ranking manager directly responsible for fostering employee learning and development within the organizaion, it should be conducted systemaically by uilizing the three diferent types of analysis. Examinaion of the environment, strategies, and resources of the organizaion to determine where training emphasis should be placed.
