Religion is used to assign meaning to life events and that bereavement is related directly to religious belonging. Evidence of four categories of outcomes that are associated with the usage of religious coping strategies: physical well-being. Those who experienced the death of a loved one and believed in a good after life were less likely to report that they had hypertension. Religion didn"t make a difference on blood pressure levels. Physical well being with religious beliefs may deteriorate but then bounce back later. People with a high religious coping score had less functional disability: psychological well-being. Believing in the possibility of reuniting with the deceased is comforting and can decrease any distress. People with more frequent attendance at religious services had less distress and depression, more social support and more positive affect.
