Victimization surveys are the preferred measurement approach. 4% canadians were physically or sexually abused by their partner in the last 5 years: 41% of victims continued to be abused post-break up, most severe forms of violence more likely to be reported by women. 70% of incidents were not reported to the police. Aboriginal people were more than twice as likely (9%) to report experiencing ipv.
