Digestive system anatomy: glucose can be derived from every organic molecule but vitamins and minerals. Processes of the digestion system: ingestion: the process includes eating and nding (perhaps catching and killing, or nding) that material, digestion: what the body does once its inside, absorption, elimination. Overview of the digestion system: everything in between (in one end, out the other) breaks down what you eat, transfers usable components through membranes of the digestion, and what ever isn"t necessary goes through the back end. So calves have a special adaption in a grove in a reticulum that they can close so the milk bypasses the rumen. Digestion - small intestine: pancreas adds bicarbonate to neutralize acid, proteases added to digest protein, bile added to digest fat, nutrients absorbed. Elimination - large intestine: final step in the digestion process, this is for indigestible materials and missed opportunities , this provides nutrients for plants after further fermentation (manure)
