All pleasures are bad, its not the good; can"t say this because everyone goes after pleasures, even good people. Pleasure is the highest good, strength of eudoxis" arguments are based on his good character; can"t say this either because base pleasures are bad. Aristotle: there is something good about pleasure but not all pleasures. We need to distinguish between base and good pleasures. Pleasure belongs to different ways of being, is proper to itself, end state, realization, living of life and pleasure are the same. Activity is the using of character, the stable condition that has been developed. Pleasure is a condition that results from fulfilling a being-at-work. Being can be said in terms of quality. -> pleasure will be connected with the good as a way of life, has to do with the proper kind of virtue of humans, the leading kind of virtue: intellectual virtues. Life of purely intellect would be best but it is not possible.
