Under the course CSL 360 provided by the University of Alberta Augustana I was
retained to conduct an environmental conservation assessment for Pleasure Island in 2018.The
goal of the report is to provide a summary report and recommendation to enhance the success
and future sustainability of the property. The report is based on personal observations, interviews
of community members and scientific data collected on site. The report also required
development of program recommendations to assist Pleasure Island in taking an active role in
conveying community service benefits and values that the program offers to the people of
Camrose. The observations and the recommendations will assist Pleasure Island with furthering
its mission of acquiring social, economic, and environmental health of the property with the help
of the community, the government, and stakeholders. Human impacts to the planet have been
accelerating and people are more disconnected from nature than ever before. Pleasure Island
hopes to bridge this gap and reconnect people with the land.

sustainability in the Camrose community by communicating sustainable knowledge of
conservation, delivering knowledge, and building bridges that will infuse sustainability into the
Camrose community. Conservation is a subject that is constantly evolving thus, the practice of
