Group a and b cause aseptic meningitis and group a causes herpangina hand, mouth and foot disease. First exclude bacterial cause, then can b difereniated from bacterial gastroenteriis. Infection via aerosol or ingestion and replicate but cause disease elsewhere in the body. Primary viremia in the intestine and the respiratory and secondary goes to different regions like brain ,liver etc. Humans only natural host. causes poliomyelitis and infection in the nervous system which causes paralysis in few hours.
