People are still trying to come up with speci c models to explain sexual assault. Until recently, sexual crime was a crime mainly researched and studied by psychologists. Sex offenders have not really been approached by criminologists they are thought to have psychological disorders. This has changed, and now we are in a position where criminologists are trying to explain this type of crime. Sex offenders are not so different from other kinds of criminals (e. g. , drug dealers, robbers). Most sex offenders are not specialists, and are not particularly different from other kinds of criminals.
