Barriers: not aware that the symptoms one has is s disorder per se, minimize symptoms due to social sigma, mistrust of mental health professionals, expense, ime constraints, availability. Anything other than a psychiatrist are not covered by ohip. Many providers, seings and opions: depends on factors. If harm is a concern: inpaient, outpaient, hospital, private oice, community center, etc, medicaion, therapy or a combinaion. How to measure treatment efeciveness: careful assessment (pre-and-post treatment) Based on self-reported symptoms, history, distress and funcional impairment. How do psychologists deliver efecive treatment: via empirically supported treatments (or evidence based therapies, treatments that have been tested and evaluated, depends on client moivaions, therapist skill, progression through steps of therapy, main concerns to address, etc. Therapist: socially skilled, show warmth, concern, empathy.
