Document Summary
Module 2 research methods & statistics sept 19th, 2018. There are many technologies available to help with communication. Experiments: safety, benefits outweigh risks, informed consent, no coercion, privacy, ethics, declaration of helsinki, canadian psychological association, and ethics review boards. Reliability: stable answers across observations and time, not influenced by emotions or personal views. Is one outcome favoured by your design? (bias). Example: improving exam performance; with 1 memory pill given to half the group and the other half has no memory pill. They all take the exam and obviously the group that took the memory pill got a better grade. Going into this exam the group who knew they had the memory pill had the mindset that they were going to do good, therefore this is an example of bias. There needs to be a system that can control a lot of data, therefore that is why there is statistics!
