Document Summary

Narrative principles and construction: additional principles of film narrative, 1. In order to create a logical narrative, events need to be related to one another by cause and effect. If a relationship is suggested between two affects, our perception changes. Ex: trying to sleep at night after a strongly argued meeting with a boss. A woman wakes in the morning and smashes a mirror. The telephone rings and the boss is on the line apologizing. Narrative (definition): a chain of events in a cause-effect relationship occurring in time and space. The late end of the story is placed in the early portion of the plot. Ex: character a is given the trait to desire something. In attempting to fulfill this desire, the character establishes clearly explained goals. In pursuing these goals, actions are undertaken by the character. Which result in specific effects, which demand that the character take more action.
