Usually starts in adolescence, early adulthood (can begin in childhood) 10x more common in ocd than in population generally (denys et al, 2004) 33% of ocd patients have mdd (major depressive disorder) when evaluated (tukeletal, 2002) 20% lifetime comorbidity with bipolar disorder (faravellietal, 2004) Becomes compulsion otherwise people are directed to think about their anxiety. Difficulty dismissing thought --> anxiety, causing more difficulty.
