Un has a declaration which forbids member states from human cloning. It is viewed as a violation of human dignity. Cloning is legal in china, uk, and most us states. Kass: when two parents come together to create a child, they are participating in a uniquely good/acceptable sexual act. They provide a uniquely healthy set of circumstances to raise a child. Any deviation from this will lead to circumstances that are demeaning to parents" humanity, and compromise the child"s welfare. Cloning threatens confusion of the child"s identity and individuality. The child"s identity is confused by being a glorified do-over" of the parent. The child would have to live up to everything that the parent did before it. The psychological well-being of the clone is affected by being a mere replica. Social identities of clones are confused because they are essentially siblings of their parents. Cloning represents a giant step towards transforming procreation into an act of manufacturing.
