Rise of interest in anxiety: new concept, was simply described as a worry before this, freud was interested in neuroses, helping to reshape the 20th century as the age of anxiety. Simple phobia (specific: persistent, excessive, narrowly defined fears associated with specific objects or situations, unreasonable, thunderstorms or spiders, must occur every time you are exposed to the phobia, begins to consume your life w anxiety and avoidance. Agoraphobia (home body: extreme fear about situations where they are unable to escape or will be embarrassed, therefore do not leave house, distance from safety is the problem. Could be part of what it is to be human: overlap: frequently diagnosed with depression because individuals meet criteria for both disorders. It is rare to have s&s for just one disorder due to so much overlap multiple disorders rather than a single one, finding correct treatment.
