Performance, presentations, going to parties: controversial because people can"t distinguish between normal anxiety and performance anxiety of a social anxiety disorder, originates in fear of being humiliated or embarrassed. If anxiety occurs as a response to a specific situation (eg. a speech), the anxiety will disappear if the task is performed privately.
