What is this context comprised of: the economy, the cultural, the political, the epistemological. The way that the broader economy that we exist in is structured often commodifies or decommodifies sexual relations. Industry built around sex: things are sold through sex/sexualization, the sex industry . Legal structures that exist today that allow women to get abortions, people of different races to get married etc . Systems of knowledge that describe what is real for example. How we think about things and sexualities. Personal inclinations and preferences: dominant epistemological framework today and in most western countries that guide us in terms of sexuality. Sex and political economy are linked in the following ways: Economic: affluence, poverty organises private sphere and commodifies or decommodifies sexual life.
