There are special qualities of human existence: self-awareness. They make us capable to search for meaning and to exercise our free will and responsibility. If we give up these privileges (and burdens), we alienate ourselves from our core human existence: humans are proactive individuals (cid:374)ot just reactive beings (responding to external stimuli or internal drives) What are they based on: rogerian psychology, humanistic-existential psychology, based on existentialism and phenomenalism. Existentialism: an individual searching for the meaning of existence, selfhood, responsibility and the freedom of choice, there are three modes of existence, aesthetic (sensory, or abstract, ethical (attachment vs. detachment, religious (temporary or eternal) Phenomenalism: focus on experiencing own existence in the world here and now, physical world around the individual (umwelt), social world (mitwelt), and, own personal world (eigenwelt, here and now existence.
