Relatively large number of animals used ethical dilemma. Societal concerns pressure from animal rights activist groups concerning animals used in scientific research. Knowledge we can learn about targets and mechanisms more easily using animal models. Money in vitro testing costs less, more efficient and rapid cell growth, easy as you only need to purchase the initial cell line. Speed you can build and screen everything very quickly.
