3 steps: the collection and quality control of the data, the input of the data into the models, human processing of the model and sending it out to the public. The data in all of the models is the same but it is the quality of the models that is different across all boards. Models run for about 15 days for weather forecasts. In practice, the forecasts last for less than this. The 15 day forecast can fluctuate a lot from day to day. Once we get the data and it is placed in a model, we have to put information at every point in the model. There are huge areas of the world where we don"t have direct observations so we have to rely on remote observations (radars and satellites things that allow us to see where the instrument is removed from things)
