JURI-1107EG Lecture 1: Assignment 1
Document Summary
Hobbes: hobbes argues that humans are essentially equal. In the text, hobbes relates the measure of wisdom being the passage of time. Hobbes" argues the equality in humans due to man"s incapacity of recognizing other"s accomplishments, while being able to recognize his own. He argues that man can acknowledge others wit, education, and eloquence, but will fail to concede that other"s posse the same level of wisdom. Through hobbes" text, men are assumed to be equal in both body and mind and therefore argues that there is no greater sign of an equal distribution that that of every man is contented with his share (ketchen, 11). Green"s hollow bones example serves to not illustrate the function of law, but the failure to provide illustration of the function. His example shows that the function of hollow bones in birds is for evolutionary purposes.
