A comedy-thriller about regional and national identity. The film plays on conventions, myths, and stereotypes regarding ontario and quebec - and about canada. One of the highest-grossing canadian films of all time domestically but a film little seen outside of canada. Nobody outside of canada wanted to see it. Cop 2 directed by alain desrochers premiered in 2017. The two main characters personify two different provinces. Martin ward (colm feore) represents ontario, he speaks english, is dressed in a suit and wears a tie, and he is a by- the-book cop. David bouchard (patrick huard) is martin"s opposite and represents. He is a rule-bending cop, and a leather-clad rocker who speaks qu b cois. The presentation of the two main characters tells us all we need about them. Martin is in his underwear and shirt and is ironing his pants.
