Female red - backed salamanders guards their eggs in moist rotten logs she suspends them in the log and then guards them until their hatch most salamanders go to the water but not red backs. Female wolf spiders carry their egg sac around stuck to their spinnerettes the babies are carried on the mothers back and guard them after they are hatched. Gestation period is 8 months and when baby is born they guard them for a year and feed them with milk total parental investment is 20 months.
