Ovovivparity: holding eggs in the body until they hatch (snakes) the babies are left alone after the eggs hatch. The skink lizard does this too but she lives underneath in a little rock hole. The red-backed salamanders guard their eggs in the forest. They go into rotting logs and suspend their eggs, which are full of water so the salamanders can grow outside of a aquatic environment. Wolf spiders carry their babies with them in a spinneret until they are hatched. She will then carry the babies around for a while. Nursery web spiders (dock spiders) also carry a spinneret and just before the baby spiders the mother creates a special web that the babies go into to be protected. Giant water bug have the male carrying the eggs. r-strategy = little parental care/ investment. k-strategy = a good amount of parental care/ investment.
