Only works if patient understands, professional shares information. Rights and freedoms restricted by medical people- quarantine. Must provide factual, truthful information so public can decide. Did not know what was going on. Canada fell behind cause we didn"t have the proper info. Concept of doing good, optimizing benefits over burdens. Mercy, charity, any action that benefits another. Fine when bedside vigil was all society could offer. Now- life support, early birth, organ transplants etc. Funds simply were not put into epidemic infrastructures. A group of norms for distributing benefits, risks, and costs fairly. To each, an equal share (public education) To each, according to contributions (retirement rrsps, pension plans) To each, according to merit (jobs, promotions)
