Document Summary

Week 7 sampling distributions + confidence intervals. Sampling frame is a list of items that are in the population and can be sampled. Inaccurate or biased results can result if parts of the population are excluded. Non-probability sampling: when items are chosen without regard to their probability of occurrence: Advantages of nps = convenience, speed, low cost: convenience sample: selected based only on being easy, inexpensive and quick to sample, i. e someone standing at the station and asking the first 50 people they encounter. Judgement sample: collecting opinions of perceived experts or most appropriate items are selected, by convenience: quota sample: pre-set quotas of groups chosen by convenience. Also good for collecting data from electoral registers, class rosters etc: both srs and ss are easier than other methods but require larger sample size. A sampling distribution is the distribution of the results if you actually selected all possible samples.
