Document Summary
Communicating with other health professionals: professional collaboration. Is the transfer point for error: professional courtesy. How do we do this : resolution: aim for a win-win state ur needs as clearly & unemotionally as possible, assertiveness: different styles of behaviour. Passive: allow others to make all decisions. Results in poor communication: mandatory reporting of hcps. All ahpra registered health practitioners are subjects to mandatory reporting. Match language to the audience (hcp or patient) Info should be communicated in written form: referrals, results, patient care plans, reports to doctor, patient notes. It is legally required: message is complex or long, record of communication needs to be kept. Why does it matter: to provide info to consumer & discuss patient care with other hcps, avoid medical errors leading to severe injury or death, poor legibility: ambiguity, misinterpretation, professional written communication. Correct spelling & grammar: writing well. Have clarity of purpose what exactly is ur message? (referrals etc)
