Reflexive process (cid:453)self(cid:454) as an object of reflection. The self is dependent on the social context and at a broader level in society society determines what roles are available to us. Society is, in turn, shaped by actions of the (cid:453)self(cid:454) in these roles (cid:472)sets & burke, (cid:434)(cid:432)(cid:432)(cid:435)(cid:473) Musical identities are not just for (cid:453)musicians(cid:454) listening, gigs. Music in identities the ways people use music as material for building, understanding and expressing non-musical qualities eg. values. Identities in music musical roles such as (cid:453)guitarist(cid:454), heavy metal fan, jazz saxophonist, event manager. Importance would depend on how much you value on music, context, phase of life. Music is not just a reflection or expression of existing identity. We use music as material to construct and shape identity.
