The endoderm forms from the gut. Important for inducing formation of mesodermal organs (eg heart, blood vessels) Buds off liver, gall bladder and lungs. Buds = small outgrowth from the parent organism, which becomes a new individual. As the body folding occurs, most of the endoderm is a tube in the centre of the embryo. The end of the yolk sac is all that"s left out. Separates the coelom into thoracic and abdominal cavities. Develops into part of the diaphragm (controls breathing) Sac like structure which helps with gas exchange and excretion in the embryo by becoming the umbilical cord attached to the placenta. It becomes the urachus this connects the fetal bladder to the yolk sac. Closed at cranial end oropharyngeal membrane. Closed at caudal end cloacal membrane. 3 parts- each defined by where their blood is supplied from: Note: try and remember each of the main structures and which section they form from.
