ANAT20006 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Lymphatic System, Endoderm, Ectoderm
Document Summary
Pulmonary- deoxy from heart to lungs then back. Systemic- oxy from heart to body and back. Capillaries (diastolic pressure- between contractions) (systolic- during contraction) Lymphatic- pick up electrolytes/pathogens, start at capillaries then go to vessels, trunks, nodes so can be cleaned by immune system. Articular cartilage from mesoderm- subject to compression. Conducting" vessels- capacity to expand and contract easily. Media has large amounts of smooth muscle. Controlled by vasomotor nerve fibers mostly innervated by sns. Tonus (pressure) determines blood pressure and if increases is hypertension. Occur in highly vascular organs like muscles and around joints. Potential- have capacity but only used if need arises. B/w arteries and veins w/o capillary at extremities. Help with temperature regulation and sexual intercourse. Thrombus (clot within blood vessels and could lodge at junction) and embolus (plug) Direct flow against gravity towards heart and from superficial to deep perforating veins.
