By reflecting on our experiences, we consciously construct our own understanding of the world we live in. We use our own rules and mental models to make sense of our experiences. Learning, therefore is the process of adjusting our mental models to accommodate new experiences (schemas) . Modern learning is: a focus on what the learner does (learner-centredness) The nature of learning (surface and deep learning, levels of thinking hots & lots) Provide evidence to substantiate conclusions: perception: people have different ways of becoming aware of things. Judgement: people employ different ways of coming to conclusion about what they perceive.
