Speech is the end result of a complex process that begins with a single thought. In the grand scheme of things, there are numerous ways to communicate a thought through language. For example, you can have a happy thought and choose to express your happiness through body language (i. e. smiling). However, the majority of humans on earth habitually opt to speak to express our thoughts through language.
