Goal is to find the optimal level of environmental support for people who have relatively low levels of competence. Several quality factors to consider by the state for approval of a facility. Quality of life for residents grooming, food tastes, and room comfort. Quality of care quick responding staff, staff and family involvement in decision making. Safety enough staff, clear hallways (no clutter or narrowness) Several factors to be considered by families. Skilled nursing is temporary after hospitalization while custodial care is more permanent. Nursing homes that only take medicaid residents offer longer care but less intensive. Make sure the residents care plan is put together by a team of professionals and residents are involved in it. Most preferred approach in nursing homes and is based on promoting wellbeing through shared engagement in decision making. Focuses on the individual and does not agree with the one size fits all mentality.
