Discuss the importance of thinking about sexuality in adolescence. It has increased more with time, more common and important to know so we can highlight safe practices and help prevent bad things. Discuss the statistics of sexual activity in adolescence and the problems with understanding these statistics. Gradually increased during the 70s and 80s, dipped and is now steady at about 50%, but they oftentimes have other types of sex instead of normal vaginal sex. 1/3 of 9th graders and 2/3 of 12th graders, nondisclosure could be common and also difficulty defining sex. More likely to start having sex early, boys and girls have sex at equal rates but have increased way more in girls than boys. Discuss the psychological and social characteristics of sexual active teens.
