Growth factors - stimulate nearby cells to grow and divide (example of paracrine signaling, where cell signals travel short distances and reach multiple cells) Synaptic signaling - electrical signal along nerve cell stimulates secretion of neurotransmitter molecules which act as chemical signals, diffusing across synapse and triggering response from target cell.
