A 12,000 shaman burial from the southern levant (pages 17665-176669) Related to dramatic socioeconomic change brought about from the switch from foraging to farming. New social rituals, but no hierarchy egalitarian. Small cave, functioned as small grave site for natufian: dated later stage of natufian period. Lack of bones = this was primary burial site. Limestone slabs, 10 stones on the body etc. Laid out in a weird way on its side, legs spread and bent at the knee. Congenital pathologies would"ve affected her gait (walking funny / limp / foot dragging); unnatural/asymmetrical appearance. Shells repeatedly broken in the same places: smashed before they went in there. Either because they don"t show up in natufian culture, or they"re complete, super rare find in natufian shit. Wild cow tail, eagle wing bone, marten skulls (buried with skin on), wild boar forearm, leopard pelvis, male gazelle horn.
