Public opinion- opinions on controversial issues that one can express in public without isolating oneself: sum of individual opinions on an issues affecting those individuals, collection of views held by persons interested in the subject. Formal opinion leaders- positions such as elected of cials, presidents of companies, or heads of membership groups: aka power leaders. Informal opinion leaders- those who have clout with peers because of some special characteristic. Natural evaluation of an issue involves ve stages: de nition of the issue, involvement of opinion leaders, public awareness, government/regulatory involvement, resolution. Tuesday, october 31, 2017: earning relatively high income, regularly reading newspapers and magazines, actively participating in recreational activities, showing environmental concern by recycling. Two step ow theory- public opinion formed by views of people who have taken time to sift and evaluate information then form an opinion that they express to others.
