Document Summary
Science as we know it did not exist for a long time. Scientific revolution and ways of knowing : founding of modern science, mid 1500s mid 1700s. Everything is deductive, starting at bigger principles to explain things that happen: concerned with ultimate answer of why things are how they are. Where does the scientific revolution take root and spread: royal academics (set up by monarchs, noble estates, jesuit colleges, books and letteres (most in latin) Modern science is more focused on how rather than the why. Shift from deductive to inductive that"s form top down to bottom up observations. Emphasis on experiments, observations, new tools, controlling nature. Francis bacon: 1561-1626, he rejected aristotle"s top down, he had a lot of doubt in the world, the only way to know that something is true is if we can see it or sense it.
