Systemic nature of the changes involved in globalization, which is redefining all the fundamental reference points of human society and social analysis. Essence of the process is the replacement for the first time in the history of the modern world system, of all residual pre (or non) -capitalist production relations with capitalist ones in every part of the globe. Globalization involves the hastened internationalization of capital and technology, a new int. division of labor, economic integration processes, and a decline in the importance of the nation- state, and so on. Economic globalization is bringing material basis for transnationalisation of political processes and systems of civil societies and global integration of social life: national boundaries eroded. Commodification of social life --> undermines democratic control of person-hood. "social structure of accumulation": a set of mutually-reinforcing social, economic, and political institutions and cultural ideological norms which fuse with and facilitate a successful pattern of capital accumulation over specific historic periods.
